Preparing for Fall 2010
Have you ever wondered what went into preparing for a season of Girls on the Run? It takes a lot of materials for the lessons, numerous volunteers, and many hours of preparation.
Each of the 14 locations of GOTR San Diego will receive materials to complete a 24 lesson curriculum established by Girls on the Run International. The materials for each site fill up an entire storage tub and a reusable grocery bag! In addition to the lesson materials, each site receives a supply of dry snacks to give the girls at the end of each lesson. When you see everything together in one location, its pretty amazing!
Thanks to our 9 volunteers who worked for 37 hours during 4 supply prep sessions, we are now ready for our 14 sites across San Diego with 210 spots for girls.
It took 3 trips to Costco to buy supplies for the 24 lessons per season.
In total, the supplies needed for Fall 2010 were:
- 14 boxes of fruit snacks
- 14 tubs of animal crackers
- 28 tubs of pretzels
- 28 boxes of gold fish
- 42 tennis balls
- 56 orange cones
- 280 markers
- 630 Ziploc bags
- 3440 index cards
- 7000 stickers
- 13000 beads
Wow that is a lot of stuff! Without the help of our loyal volunteers, we wouldn’t have been able to make this happen! Thanks again to everyone who helped prepare for Fall 2010. We’re looking forward to kicking off our season on September 13th!
