Girls on the  Run San Diego sponsored a WitStop at the WitKids Adventure Race in Balboa Park this past Saturday August 14th.

The WitKids Adventure Race took teams throughout Balboa Park into different museums and hidden places and each team covered about three miles on foot completing the challenges!  The participants had to figure out clues, read a map, and work as a team. On the map each team was given there were different “Wit Stops” they had to visit where they would complete a task or answer a question correctly in order to move on in the race.

At the GOTRSD WitStop the teams were given a ’bingo’ card with physical challenges (jumping jacks, sit-ups, jump rope, and push-ups) as well as questions that they could answer as a team. These questions were taken from several lessons in the GOTR curriculum. Some of the questions were:

  • Name your favorite physical activity
  • Name 3 qualities in a friend that are important
  • Name 2 junk foods you should eat in moderation
  • Name 1 reason that teamwork is important

Each team needed to complete 4 challenges across, down, or diagonally on the page before they could move on. Each team did great  answering the questions and getting their blood pumping doing the activities. We had a great time at the WitKids Adventure Race and hope all of the teams enjoyed our WitStop!
